Jerry Ware was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and grew up in southern Oregon. He began tattooing in Roseburg and then honed his skills in busy shops in Maui, Hawaii, and Boulder, Colorado. He moved to Portland with Dan Gilsdorf and Jennifer Billig to open Atlas Tattoo in 1997. Jerry's work is defined by bright colors, clean lines, and a design aesthetic inspired by traditional American tattoos, comics, and psychedelia from the 1960s and ‘70s.
